Spring's filmy, fresh frocks are made to move at Jason Wu's show

Spring's on the move already. One minute you're at the St. Regis hotel for Jason Wu's show, where Kerry Washington chatted with Amanda Peet about relocating to New York for “Race,” her upcoming Broadway show, and the next, you're on the V train with eight of Wu's leggy models in their street clothes as they scoot off to their next walking job.

As they chat competitively about which shows they're working — munching on apples and, you know, air — you wonder if they're thinking about what they'll wear next.
From the looks of it Friday, it'll be whisper-thin, silky pieces that won't take up much room in your luggage. In fact, spring's looking so silky and sheer that it may be time to take your mother's lacy slip out of retirement.

At a ballroom in the regal St. Regis, Wu sent out delicate prints that clung to the body, plus a little volume with poufy minidresses.

Hemlines were short, but the young designer will probably lengthen them for a custom order from one of his best customers, Michelle Obama (don't know how she'll pull off those feather-heavy minis in the White House).

While Wu's pieces are ready to fly away, Yigal Azrouel's clingy jersey clothes are for pounding the pavement — in exactly that color: a New Yorky slate gray. Sexy slits of skin showed (clearly the rumors of the handsome designer getting tons of action from the ladies have translated to the runway).

Designers are putting lots of back details on their dresses, so that girls look great both coming and going. Wu emphasized the big, bold zipper, while for Preen, Thornton Bregazzi attached flyaway panels and deep dips on the backside of his see-through structured frocks.

Cynthia Rowley sent her runway back in time with '50s cocktail party dresses in dreamy watercolor prints.

The colors matched the mood outside: It was a dreary, rainy day as New York reflected on the past. But as far as fashion
