Nick Lachey Bored and Turned Off by Vanessa Minnillo's Need for Bling

After months of speculation that things between them were nearing an end, it was confirmed last week that after three years of dating, Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo had finally broken up. And friends of Lachey's say that the break-up is no surprise.

Nick Lachey was supposedly bored with the relationship, and was also none too thrilled with a recent interview Minnillo had done, during which she'd rambled on about how she was expecting a 10-carat engagement ring. Yeah, we'd say an interview like that is pretty much a relationship kiss of death.

Speaking to the Chicago Sun Times, a friend of Lachey's said, "Frankly, he was pretty bored." The friend added that he's been anticipating the break-up between Minnillo and Lachey "for at least the past few months... Nick just didn't find he and Vanessa had all that much in common anymore - with the exception of their shared experiences over the three years they had dated."
It's true, Nick was never a beauty queen, and Vanessa really doesn't know the heartache of being a washed-up boy band star or having a failed marriage to Jessica Simpson. What was there really to talk about?

And as for that interview in which Vanessa had pointed to her 5-carat ring and said that the engagement ring from Nick would be 10 carats, the source said, "I don't think her publicly announcing she was expecting an engagement ring of 'at least 10 carats' went over too well."

We don't either; especially considering that we have the feeling that Nick Lachey likely has absolutely no way of swinging a 10-carat engagement ring with the way his career's been going. When his marriage to Jessica Simpson ended, Lachey's professional life did as well. Perhaps he bailed on this relationship because he realized his girlfriend had some delusional expectations...
